William Watkins’ Deadpool
I got this model from CultTVMan Shop, and built it up as a birthday present for a friend. It’s a snap-together kit, but I shaved down the pegs so that the parts fit without forcing. The body parts were a conventional break-down of head, arms, torso, and legs, each of two halves. One half has a lip around the edge, which greatly helped line up the halves for joining.
I determined that it would be better to assemble the body parts and paint them separately. After assembly, I masked around the joins, and puttied and sanded them, primed, and painted. After removing the masking, I blended in the edges of the masked areas. It is probably a good idea, when assembling the body, to place the feet into the base before the glue sets to ensure a correct fit.
The hands are in sections that fit snugly around the weapons, resulting in a much more realistic grasp, but making it a challenge to paint. To ease assembly, I left off the weapons until the body was assembled. I use Silly Putty for complex masking like this, shaping it with flat toothpicks.
Main colors are Model Master Gloss Black enamel and Model Master Insignia Red acrylic. The rest of the colors are various model and craft paints. The base detail is ambiguous enough that you can make a section scrap metal or concrete block by painting.
This is a large, impressive model when completed, and really stands out on a shelf or table.
