Wonderfest 2026 preview #1 – Star Trek guests!

It is Wonderfest time! Right now we are two week away from this magical event, and time to share previews of the event.

I’ve been attending Wonderfest since 1998. At that time, the original CultTVman website was less than two years old and the internet was bringing together people who shared interests. In my case this was the modeling hobby, Star Trek models, and Aurora Monsters. Back in those early days, we would do chats on Friday nights, and a small group of us conspired to attend this event called Wonderfest. It was the beginning of many great friendships that I still value today. I have not missed a show since then.

Back in 2004, I approached the folks running Wonderfest about sponsoring Marta Kristen as a guest. Ever since then, I have help sponsor guests every year. This year is no different. 2026 is a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Star Trek, so we are bringing in several original Star Trek guest stars.

Barbara Luna is remembered for here performance in Mirror, Mirror. Beverly Washburn appeared in The Deadly Years (which freaked me out as a kid). Sandra Gimpel was the Salt Vampire in The Man Trap, the very first broadcast episode of Trek. She also appeared in The Cage/The Menagerie, and was Bill Mumy’s stunt double on Lost in Space. I am so looking forward to this!

The Trek continues. Wonderfest 2026 features even more Star Trek guests. Rick Sternbach worked on Star Trek The Motion Picture, and many of the other Trek projects all the way through Voyager. Daren Dochterman was heavily involved in the restoration and director’s cut of Star Trek The Motion Picture, and many other SFX projects. John Eaves worked on many of the Trek movies, DS9, and many other fantastic films. These guys have become good friends over the years and I look forward to seeing them each year at the show.

The great thing about Wonderfest is that it is like a family reunion. Every year, friends come together because we like the model hobby. We share our hobbies, and have developed friendships.
