Tom Dickhut’s Classic AMT Enterprise
Here is an AMT TOS Enterprise that I had built to give to a friend. This is built pretty much straight out of the the box with a few modifications. The kit is a first version of the small box with the slots in the pylons that glued to a bulkhead piece with matching slots in the secondary hull. This kit still had remnants of the lighting option from the original molds so added two regular bulbs to light the bridge and lower sensor domes. I then added more accurate bussard domes, intercoolers, and flux constrictors from Federations Models. The thicker plastic of this earlier kit allowed me not to do as much filling as other projects but, the gaps I did have to fill were neatly done with some Aves. The end caps were cast by a friend of a friend that I had intended for another project. I painted the base coat Tamiya light gray primer with a Tamiya clear coat. The nacelle slots are dark ghost grey with the inner detail painted steel. The nacelle end caps are gunship gray as well as the flux chillers, linear accelerator, the rings behind the bussards, and the sides of the impulse engines. The deflector stem and the balls on the end caps are aluminum, and the dish along with the front of the secondary hull are copper. When it came time for the decals I used a combination of sets from Round 2 and JTGraphics.
