Steven Vasko’s HAL 9000
The “HAL 9000 Interface” was a resin kit and the layout is patterned more after the HAL Interfaces used in “2010;The Year We Make Contact”, though a sticker in the original “2001” font is supplied for the nameplate. I scratched the top inset panel in rough sandpaper to duplicate the “Wood Grain/Burnished Metal” texture on the original film’s interface. The 8mm Red LED kit for the lens is courtesy of Voodoo FX. A clear plastic bubble-gum machine prize capsule was trimmed, flat-sanded on the bottom, and glued over and above the LED to duplicate the appearance of lens optics on the film prop. As a last touch, the SonicFX “HAL 9000 sound unit” was bought from this website’s Hobbyshop and installed in the kit
