Steven Vasko’s Aries 1B Launch Pad

This is a scratch-built Launch/Landing Pad for my modified Lunar Models Aries 1-B. It is based on the top section of the hydraulic lift that the Aries lands on that lowers the spacecraft into the massive Red-lit chamber seen in the film. The top sections are foam board laminated with sheet styrene and finished with cut pieces of styrene and parts kit-bashed from a Revell-Germany 1/72 scale King Tiger model kit. The tubular sections beneath are pieces of various diameter PCV pipe and wooden dowels cut to size. The wooden base is a craft-store find finished and varnished in a “pecan” finish. Various strips and pieces of colored electrical tape, decals from my “spares” folder, and pastel weathering complete the piece. One more to follow…thanks for your patience.
