Paul Hicks’ USS Horizon
This was featured in On The Bench recently
This is my scratchbuilt Daedalus-class Federation Starship. It is approximately 1/175 scale, or 34-inches long.
It began as loose PVC pipes, scraps of wood and plastic bits from other kits.
The (non canon) deflector dish is the remains of a plastic wine glass, while the domes on the front of the engine nacelles are frosted two-inch gumball machine prize containers. Christmas ornaments painted red-gold, and detailed with pinstripe are contained within them.
The ship was painted Krylon light grey, with darker accents. Pinstripes made up the remaining hull detail. I “weathered” the hull with black oil-based paint, using a brush. The dark windows are pinstripe, while the “lit” ones are reflective tape, each one individually.
