More Star Wars figures from Dennis Hogan

The first pics are of an original Kaiyodo vinyl figure kit. Boba Fett from Star Wars. This was one of the most detailed and difficult figure kits I have ever worked on, but well worth the effort.

The instructions were in Japanese. This may not seem troublesome, but when colors and exact detail on how a piece should be trimmed or fitted to another makes a difference. So, with some trial and error, I got the figure to what I believe is pretty well done.

The green armor was NATO Green and a touch of light Grey and about a quarter part white. For the suit itself, I used Tamiya’s JA Grey. Dark green and Light Ghost Grey were used on other parts.

The kit comes with decals. Although I had some difficulty placing the red “kill” stripes on his helmet, I was able to cover with a simple brush stroke or two of silver to signify more wear and damage to the helmet.

Second pics are of an AMT original kit of Luke Skywalker. I tried using the suggested colors from the instruction sheet, but still don’t think it looks exactly like the suit “Luke” wore in the original movie.

For the base, I went for a walk in the neighborhood and picked up some sand and rocks. When I got home I took good old Elmer’s school glue and coated the top portion of the base with a thin coat and then shook sand over it. I used contact cement to adhere little rocks. I made sure that I left a small clear area of plastic base to cement his feet on.
