Michael Danz’s Enterprise E

I would like to post some pictures of my build of the Enterprise -E from ST: First Contact. This is an original AMT release from 1997 and has no aftermarket parts or decals. At the time, there were very few, if any, add-ons so I built this straight out of the box. Using the video (before DVD’s), I was able to ascertain certain details as I saw them then. The paint patterns are all totally hand painted as are the windows and other minute details. I’ve since done minor color alterations but generally the model still looks the same. I used red foil to illuminate the impulse and warp-drive areas as an experiment with decent results. The stand was also custom painted to look like a slab of metal in another early experiment. All this done before lighting kits and other specialty items. I’m proud that this has survived several moves, curious cats, and even a minor earthquake in the years since this was built.
