Joel Tavera’s Earth vs the Flying Saucers

This is the Monsters In Motion model kit of the “Earth vs. the Flying Saucers” spaceship.   This kit is very, very modeler friendly.  It is clean and simple.  There are only five pieces to this kit.  The base, the 1/72nd scale alien figure, the saucer and the two piece death ray. The only area of concern was the gap between the top dome of the saucer and it’s main body, but once puttied and sanded and premiered the results are a smooth finish.

From my research of the movie the saucer was supposed to be a light gray, but the customer wanted it the typical silver. I used Testors’ silver from the spray can and detailed certain areas of the saucer with an airbrushing of Tamiya’s ‘Metallic Grey.’

The pedestal the saucer rests on and the death ray were painted the same silver.  Tamiya ‘Dark Grey’ was used for the door recess of the pedestal.

The alien was sprayed a flat black with a dry brushing of Tamiya’s ‘Gunmetal.’

The concrete areas were painted Testors’ ‘Camouflage Grey’ with a washing of Tamiya’s ‘Neutral Grey’ and a dry brushing of ‘Deck Tan.’  The grassy area and bushes were airbrushed Tamiya ‘Green’ with a washing of ‘Flat Black’ for the bushes and an over all dry brushing of ‘Light Green.’

All in all a very easy and nice and kit from Monsters In Motion.
