Joel Tavera’s Earth vs the Flying Saucers alien

This is the Action Hobbies alien from the movie “Earth vs. the Flying Saucers.”

The figure is 9 inches tall and I believe that it is the largest of the three incarnations of this creature on the market.

There are only 5 pieces to the kit. Those pieces are the base, the column, the main body of the alien and two arms.

There was quite a bit of sanding, putty and thick gel super glue filler to do to this kit, but ultimately it paid off. After wards I sprayed the figure flat black enamel, then airbrushed the entire body with a light coat of Tamiya’s acrylic ‘Gunmetal.’ Then I used the same ‘Gunmetal’ to do a drybrushing of all the raised surfaces.

The base is spray painted camouflage grey, with washes of Tamiya’s ‘Neutral’ and ‘Dark grey’ paint. Then dry brushed with Tamiya’s ‘Deck Tan.’ Tamiya ‘Black’ was airbrushed over the logo area and the letters of the logo were detailed out with Tamiya ‘Light Green.’

This model took some effort but the over all result was very well worth the time spent.
