Jeff Pollizzotto’s Daedalus Class
Finally completed, this was to be the master for a new kit but due to circumstances beyond my control it is not to be…..
The model was finished in Tamiya colors mixed just for this model. As only one good photo of Greg Jein’s studio model exists, I didn’t have too much color research to go by.
As this was to be the U.S.S. ESSEX, I used a little artistic license on the paint job. Brass Bare-Metal Foil was added to the raised areas around the forward Engineering Hull and all decal artwork was done myself with the help of my friend Chris using Adobe Photoshop. It was then sent to JT Graphics for printing. Jeff did his usual fantastic job. Thanks Jeff.
Some weathering was done around the panel lines by drybrushing and with my trusty Badger airbrush.
The base was made from MDF and Poplar with a center cut from a piece of Evergreen scribed sheet. It was painted primer gray and a color ship plaque was made to fit on the center of the base.
This was a model I always wanted to build and looks great on the shelf. It is a shame that it can’t be shared with my fellow modelers.
