Gino Dykstra’s USS Chapel

from 2001

This is my USS Chapel, made in honor of the good nurse, which is clearly based on the USS Reliant.

I started by doing the necessary stuff, including sanding off the weird little triangles and squares on the top of the hull, and of course drilling out all the windows — without doubt the hardest part of the job.  Also filled and sanded the trenches around the outside of the hull.   The biggest part of the modification was the removal of the torpedo bar and the closure of the right shuttle bay (figured they’d need more space for hospital beds).  I also assumed they’d need excellent long-range sensors and communications equipment, so I added some bumps and such as well as the sensor array on the wing.  As it’s a hospital ship, I also removed the phaser banks.

I also added a “landing pad” behind  the remaining shuttle bay largely ’cause I thought it looked neat.   As  you can imagine, all the markings are mine, taken from my own decal sheet.  Had to show off, didn’t I?
