Gary Salerno’s Millennium Falcon

Here are some shots of my 1/72 scale Bandai Perfect Grade Millennium Falcon for your model posting page. This is a Commission that I completed last fall-2018. This was a joy to work on as Bandai in my opinion produces some of the best model kits.
The model was assembled in sections a quality primer was first applied to each component followed by pre-shading all of the panel lines. This was top coated with Tamiya insignia white paint. The model was clear coated and a pin wash was used to further enhance the lines and raise details of the ship. The included decals were used in most of the different colored sections and other areas were painted using the airbrush that were not conducive to decal application. Another clear cote was applied and weathering and streaking was accomplished with thinned oil paint. Pastels were used to darken and dirty up other areas of the ship. Exhaust streaks were airbrushed on.
Additional forward lighting and gun well lighting was added along with the provided lighting kit. Battle damage was enhanced by adding texture and airbrushing in burn marks in those areas. The model did take best in show 3rd place in the September 2018 jersey fest model show.
