Dennis Hogan’s Mummy
I got my hands on an reissue model kit of The Mummy. Now, I may have once written that opening a sealed new model kit is cool. However, when you come across something this old and needing some care, I think the task can be just as cool. I got this for next to nothing, but it was missing a piece for the base. Can you guess which one I put together from scratch? I hope that not many people can.
I did not attach the wood base to the plastic base that comes with the kit. I did this just in case someone might want to look at the Monogram kit stamp underneath.
Now this kit was based on a Karloff movie that was shot in black and white. Come on though, I had to use some color. So, I researched the colors of Egyptian Mummies and Egyptian artifacts. Lots of sand colors, brown, tans, and Ivory. The snake was done in a Nato brown and I added some dirty yellow markings.
This is a kit that I have been trying to get my hands on for a long time now. After cleaning it up after “whoever” tried to start it, I think it turned out well and (you guessed it) it was just as cool as building myself a brand new kit.
