David Henry’s Delta Flyer models
The U.S.S. Bethune, named for famous American teacher and advisor to several American Presidents, Mary McLeod Bethune, is a starship based Delta Flyer class ship. A personal hero to Admiral Sharron Henry, Ms. Bethune was one of three women responsible for convincing President Franklin D. Roosevelt to approve formation of the Tuskegee Airmen in the 1940’s. The U.S.S. Bethune is Admiral Henry’s personal shuttle and is one of seven Delta Flyers) stored on board the U.S.S Tuskegee. Being part of the 51st Fleet, the Bethune has its own NCC designation (710 represents Ms. Bethune’s birthday, July 10, 1875) and a mix of cutting edge Federation and alien technology. The flyer is equipped with armor plating, coated with energy absorbing ablative armor, Romulan cloaking device, regenerative shielding, enhanced inertial dampers, XIV phasers and micro quantum torpedoes. Borg technology is a large part of the design as developed by the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager.
This ship has a hybrid quantum slip stream/warp drive that is capable of 200 light-years per hour. Admiral Henry travels frequently between the USS Tuskegee, Area 51 on Earth, Starbase 51M (mobile star base) and the U.S.S. Paul Robeson. The Bethune is usually escorted by the U.S.S. Red Tail 1 (Delta Flyer Red Tail Squadron named for the Tuskegee Airmen). RT1 can be tractor beamed into the quantum slipstream by the Bethune.
This is the 1/72 Delta Flyer model from Alliance and customized especially for my wife. Decals were supplied from Federation Models. The model was painted in silver metallic and coated with Future Floor wax. Red Tail 1 is a 1/144 model from JT Graphics along with custom decals from JT Graphics.
