Anthony Auverdin’s Detroyat class

The U.S.S. Niantic NCC-1105 was made using some parts from an AMT Ertl Cutaway 22″ Enterprise saucer and nacelles. These parts were heavily modified to be close to the ship’s reality : the traditional PB-32/mod 3 warp engines were refitted to PB-25 models.  All the other parts were made using styrene sheets except for the Dor-Ayela navigational deflector array which is an accurate part for the Pilot version of the 22″ Enterprise and that fits perfectly on this model. The ship was built according to Michael Morrissette’s Detroyat class Blue Prints. Decals are parts from AMT Ertl Cutaway 22″ Enterprise and the AMT Ertl Movie era NCC-1701-A Enterprise sheets for the nacelle Federation banners and for the docking ports red rings, but the names and the registry numbers are all home made decals.

The end of the Niantic

In 2267 the U.S.S. Niantic NCC-1105 in a survey and star charting mission encountered a mysterious spacefaring object. Several weeks later another Federation ship the U.S.S. Constellation NCC-1017 made contact with this object an discovered it was a mass destruction weapon using a neutronium hull and an anti-proton ray to destroy all the planets on its way. The Constellation was severely damaged by this machine and sent a distress call to all Federation ship able to intercept the weapon. The U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, on a rescue mission, managed to destroy the ‘Planet Killer’ using the derelict Constellation as an antimatter bomb. She discovered few days later that the Niantic was lost by the same way the Constellation and the planets disappeared. At the time the U.S.S. Niantic remains the only Detroyat class vessel presumed destroyed after 43 years of active service.
