Wonderfest 2012: Round 2 news
Several days ago, I posted photos of the upcoming 1:350 Classic Enterprise. Round 2 announced several all new kits at Wonderfest this year. Here’s a brief look at what was show.
A new figure kit of Wolverine from the Marvel Comics will be on the way. This will be molded in two colors and will included a masked and unmasked head. Wolverine is wearing his first X-Men costume and is standing on the head of Sentinel.
Dirty Donny’s Too Much is an all new monster figure kit. This two headed creature was created by “Dirty Donny” Gillies and the kit will feature lots of extra decals.
Coming this fall will be an all new 1:2500 Cadet series kit with the Refit Enterprise, Klingon K’Tinga and the Reliant. The Enterprise will be an all new tool, different from the kit in the original AMT three ship set. The kits will include full decals to detail the ships.
Round 2 will be putting out a couple new Forbidden Planet kits. There will be an all new 12 inch C-57D kit which would be about 1:144 scale.
There will be a new Robby the Robot kit based on the classic Forbidden Planet poster art. The kit will use parts of the current Robby kit with new legs, base, reworked arms and a female figure.
Round 2 also has a license to produce figures based on the DC Comics hereos. The discussed an “iconic” Superman kit as well as a Dark Knight Batman kit as possibilities.
They also discussed having a contest where modelers would be able to choose the next kit. Under consideration are a 1:2500 Akira, 1:1000 Reliant, 1:32 Galileo Shuttle, or an Iron Giant figure.
