Trenton Bennett’s U.S.S Stennis

Here is my latest model that I have built, and when I finished her it had been a good year before I had picked up another model kit. But anyways this is basically a Limited Edition Voyager kit that I spruced up to include; the missing ribbed lines around the bridge and in front of the Officers Mess windows, and even added the formation/navigational lights. I know that in the picture with the ventral view of the ship that the escape pod hatches have slightly different coloring.

That is because when I was applying the escape pod hatches from the ultimate decal sheet that the model came with I didn’t realize I had ran out of them since I was trying to make the dorsal view look better. So at the time I had to use the escape pod hatches from a set of Thomas Model decals that I had.

The name and registry numbers are all custom decals from Thomas Models, and the ship is named after the U.S.S. John C. Stennis, one of our own Air Craft Carriers in which one of my long time best friend is stationed on. This model by the way when it was done was given to him.

As stated above I added the missing rib detail around the bridge and in front of the Officers Mess area which is just below the bridge. I used 0.10’’ of plastic styrene rods to make the ribs. I was going to add the missing ribs for the very top of the bridge windows but I could not cut a piece small enough to fit well in there.

The formation/navigational lights were just ball point safety pins, and I cut a circle out big enough for the balls of the pins to slide up through. That was not an easy task to try to get those to stay in there. I had to use a little bit of super glue in order to get them to stay in place.

The model itself is was air brushed light gray and I just followed the instructions for this Limited Edition model to do the rest of the kit. The white windows were painted with regular white Testors Model Masters paint, and the black windows were done with an ultra fine tip black marker. But anyways comments are welcomed.
