The fusion core was another matter. The casting was slightly warped (still is) and required a tremendous amount of clean up. There were bad seam lines around every port opening that required dremeling, sanding and filling. I think that there were 33 ports or something like that. Yeeech! No fan whatsoever. Plus I had decided to create the fusion core fins. I created a pattern for these and cut them all out of plastic.
Then these were all pinned and glued in the proper locations. Whew! I spent more time on the fusion core than any other section of the model. My head was spinning at this point. At least I didn’t have to create the fusion light unit.
There was no bubble with the model, but a quick call to Plastruct eliminated this problem.
