Sneak Peak: Piranha Super Spy Car

Here’s a first look at the upcoming reissue of Piranha Super Spy Car, also known as the Man From UNCLE car.  The folks at Round 2 have done a beautiful job on this kit.

The box is larger and flatter than the original kit, and this is labeled a Special Release.

Inside the box you’ll find a tray which divides the contents.   Note that the car is molded in dark blue.   The original kit was white.

Under the tray is a beautiful print of the box art.  Frame it!

I’ve been told that the lower body part needed a bit of clean up and you can see some minor scratching in the inside of the lower body that is not on my original kit.  That was about the only difference I could notice.

Round 2 could not locate the toolings for the clear parts, so these have been recreated.   The kit comes with two sets of windows – clear and tinted.

The chrome parts have parts numbers on the sprue that were not on the original kit.  They may have been added for a later reissue.    The chrome on the reissue seems to be a little heavier and shinnier than on the original kit.

The kit also comes with a wonderful booklet with great promo pictures.    It also shows the interior detail.

The decal sheet features markings that were seen when the car was displayed at auto shows.
