SM Clark’s Mad Maestro
This is the old Lindberg Mad Maestro. It’s a motorized kit, which explains the peculiar way the arms are attached. They, along with the head and right foot, are meant to move when you throw a switch on the back of the base. I installed the motor, but will probably never put in the D cell. Makes it more a toy than I’d like.’
I made a few modifications to make it more correctly resemble the box art. From the top down, I sculpted in the eyebrows (mostly obscured by the mop of hair), the mustache, the kid gloves and the spats (complete with buttons). I also added that little blue feather in the hat band. The sheet music doesn’t come with the kit either. That’s real music. Bach. I just reduced the hell out of it, printed it to the right scale, cut it out and strategically placed it around the podium for best effect.
The only thing special about the paint job is the skin. It’s air brushed with a couple different variations of orange nail polish. Everything else is with a brush and regular enamels.
