Sean Ferrin’s Eagle Transport

Well here it is my first scratch built model. Wanted one of these since I was a kid but never wanted to pay the big $$$ for one with enough detail to satisfy me, so I made my own. I won’t bore you with the details of how I made each part, but it’s composed of various styrene, acrylic, aluminum, putty and materials from my local hobby store. I built it as a bit of a “Kit” with sub-assemblies that fit together, like the cages, struts, truss etc. and assembled it to an aluminum armature (for strength and durability). It’s 14” long and weighs about 2 pounds (has some real weight to it). Not entirely accurate but I created the parts from a printout of a line drawing off the net and scaled it up to 14”, (measured each part and made drawings of them which took some time) plus the usual plethora of filming miniature and great modeler pics for reference. The base paint came out a bit grainy but with the airbrush embellishments it looks pretty good, especially once the “Alpha Moonbase” logo’s I made were applied. Lots of masking, scraping, sanding, X-acto-ing, painting and the usual mess involved, but it was a lot of fun, not sure how soon (if ever) I’ll try it again, but it was worth it. Hope you like it.
