Scott Copeland’s Corporal Hicks

Between 4 hurricanes and 2 boys, I can’t afford that really sweet 1/6 Garage kit of Michael Biehn/CPL Hicks from “Aliens”. But while I was doing some shopping this weekend I did find a 6″ McFarlane action figure for $7.99, which I can afford (barely). It reminded me of the PE Eagle in that while it was extremely detailed and accurate, but the paint job was a little on the bland side.
After I got him home I dressed his armor and belt with some do-dads from my spare parts box. The lens on his shoulder lamp is from an “American Graffiti” car. I mixed and thinned some acrylic paints for a more accurate flesh tone and misted his arms and face with it. After a couple of coats of dullcoat I then made a wash of black and burnt umber oil paints and weathered his gear pretty heavily, and dirtied up his face to highlight the good likeness. I drybrushed his hair with several colors of oils too, that was a first for me and I think it came out pretty nice. Last I drybrushed his armor, gun, and gear with silver, greens and black.
I was really pleased how he came out, and the price was right!
