Round 2 – Star Trek model updates

Time for a Star Trek news! Round 2 made a number of announcements at Wonderfest in 2023, and many of those projects were put on hold. They are now moving forward again.
First, lets talk about the 1:350 Refit Enterprise. A lot of people were upset to find the kit was no longer available, having been discontinued several months ago. That edition of the kit had been on the market since 2017 and was experiencing a decline in sales. It is also important to realize that kit has been available with few interruptions since it was first produced about 20 years ago. This new reissue of the kit will call back to the original poster art for Star Trek The Motion Picture. The proposed box art is still awaiting approval and may change. The model kit itself is not being changed. site.

The much anticipated Strange New Worlds Enterprise is back on track. Round 2 had a new test shot built up and on display. The kit features many revisions to the primary hull including windows around the edge, new bridge detail, as well as additional details on the rest of the model,

There will also be a revised set of decals and a lighting kit for the model. These are planned to be out before the end of 2024.
We are still taking preorders for this in the CultTVman Hobbyshop. If you previously preordered, you do not need to order again!

The USS Cerritos is also coming in late 2024. The first test shot for this 1:1400 scale kit was on display at Wonderfest. It has not been decided if there will be additional markings or coloring for the other ships featured in the show. We’ll post more info when we have it.

The USS Cerritos is from the very popular Lower Decks animated series. The kit is still available for preorder in the CultTVman Hobbyshop. If you have already preordered, please do not duplicate your order.

The Allies and Adversaries model set was on display. This set of 1:2500 scale kits will come with decals for all the kits so minimal painting is needed. Available this fall. We are taking preorders in the CultTVman Hobbyshop.
And there will be a set of Aztec decals for the USS Reliant 1:537 kit that has recently been reissued. Look for these later in 2024.

There were lots of questions about larger kits, including a possible 1:350 scale Reliant, or 1:1000 scale Enterprise D. While Round 2 would like to produce those projects, they are expensive to produce new molds. The company has a limited tooling budget that is shared by the by the Sci-Fi team, the car model team, as well as the diecast and slot car sides of the business. The company is looking to see what options may be available to produce these projects in the future.
As always, we’ll share any news as we receive it.
