Ricardo Salamé Páez’ Fighting Suit Fireball

rspFireball11

The Fighting Suit Space Type Fireball.

The form of the space type of Super AFS, Fireball closely resembled the original Super AFS except the small-sized jet nozzle set on the back. Yet the structures, equipment, and functions were very different from the original., that is, the power system put stress on the jet nozzle rather than the leg, the armored defensive power intensified with out regard to increase of weight, the reinforced body, the extensive searching equipment installed at the cost of the optical system, and so on. The Super AFS changed into the most ideal weapon for use in the space war.
The Model.

The kit is Nitto # 7 de S.A.F.S. Fireball from 1984. Its scale is 1/20. The packaging is excellent, well done and with an excellent illustration. This packing became and other must have for the MAK Zvb 3000 collector.

The models basic is easy for the beginner. I choose to made the model with close cockpit, and made omission of the parts that will help me in a future projects.

To improve the union of the arms and legs and cover the mechanical unions I epoxy putty and then mold the unions similar to the Kow Yokoyama drawing. Other of the variations, was no to use the copper wire the provide the kit, to make power connections of legs and arm. I substituted them for welding wire, that is more flexible and more easy to handle. When I have al the pieces with the proper filler and well sanded, I star the painting job panting it with Tamiya White . I paint legs, arms and hips armor plates separately. But this model gives me trouble because I have bad luck with the main body. I my first painting job I was ready for applying the decals and I drop it by accident and the union cracks. Then in my second panting job something happened with the paint and it retched very bad and starts to pear. The Third one was the one the pays.

For the main engines I use Model Master Metalizer colors and a I apply several tones to give some deeps effect to the engines area. I apply Tamiya clear. I left dry this clear for 3 days, then apply the decals and after a cupola of days apply the flat base. After that I use pastel and vellejo acrylic to do the weathering job. Because the Fireball was and small spacecraft with atmospheric reentry capabilities I proceed to give it a weathering similar of a vehicle that has gone to the space and back a few times.

When I have My model almost finish I decide to put it in flight so I prepare a base that looks like the exterior looks of a transport starship. A do the EVA handles the EVA hatch and some extra detail as the EVA sirens as the Nostromo Aliens Vessel.

This is my third model of this collection
