New Star Trek kits from Revell Germany

About this time of year, the IPMS Germany website posts the new release announcements for Revell Germany. You can see the full list on their website.

Most intriguing is the listing of the Classic TOS Enterprise and Klingon Battle Cruiser as new 1:600 scale kits.   These are listed for release in September 2011.   No further information or images have been posted.

A 1:600 scale Enterprise would be about 19 inches long, or a little larger than the AMT kit, which is about 18 inches and 1:650 scale.   The recent Star Wars kits from Revell Germany were a mixed bag with soft and inaccurate detail.  Their Millennium Falcon kit was based on the old AMT kit and included those inaccuracies.   Lets hope for better results with their new Star Trek kits.

At this time, it is doubtful these kits will be available in the United States as Round 2 has a current license for Star Trek.   However, it is possible that situation could change in the future.   Revell in the US eventually obtained a license for Star Wars kits that had long been held by AMT.   This allowed the Revell Germany Star Wars kits to be issued in the US.

Speaking of Revell Germany Star Wars kits, the announcement also mentioned new TIE Fighter and Landspeeder kits for release in September.   No scale or further details are available.
