Ken Meekins’ Revell Riddler

This is my model of the movie version of The Riddler with Jim Carrey. I got him at Wonderfest ’05 (my first time there!) for a whopping 2 dollars! It wasn’t until I got home a few days later that I found out why he was so cheap. It was already put together (sort of…his leg fell off) and painted (very badly)! Guess I need to check the box next time. This was actually a little more difficult to do than a new model, because I had to take him apart and strip him of his paint. Easy-Off oven cleaner, an old toothbrush and a dremel tool with a sanding bit did the trick.

After painting him a very dark green, I put a second coat of a much lighter green on. It’s lighter than the costume from the movie, but It makes him look even more flamboyant in my opinion. The original model had decals for the ? marks, but obviously I couldn’t save them. So each one was painted on by hand (indents in the model where the original decals went). VERY tedious. Then I used a few different shades of flesh colored acrylic for the face and hands. The stand is an oval pine plaque that I got at a craft store for a dollar. I painted it black and downloaded a photo of the logo from the movie and glued it on. I then lacquered it with a high gloss spray (about four coats). Hope you like!
