This Dalek is the Comet Miniatures “Mk 3 Movie Dalek” kit. I rendered it as a gold Earth Force Commander Dalek, from the movie “Daleks’ – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.” It was a really fun kit to build, only taking me a couple of weekends.

I became an instant fan of the Daleks when I saw them recently in the new Who series. What’s NOT to like? They’re crazy looking contraptions with toilet plungers for arms that roll around screaming “EXTERMINATE!” in a screechy, annoying voice (with a Brit accent)! As soon as I saw them, I knew I had to have a model of one.

The model is built almost out-of-box. The only additions or changes I made were:

  • I rebuilt the left arm blaster completely from scratch as the model version was totally wrong.
  • I substituted the right arm claw that came with the kit for (what I call) a “toilet plunger” that was fashioned from a half of a fuel tank from a Gemini spacecraft kit.
