Joel Tavera’s Debor’s Flying Sub
Here are a few pics of the epoxy resin Flying Sub from Dennis DeBoer. As you can see the model is hollow for addition of lights if wanted. It is 4 3/4 inches wide and 5 inches long. It has inlaid fiberglass mesh in the white epoxy resin for integrity of shape and strength.
The top and bottom docking/hatch rings the rear exhaust bulkhead, forward intakes, and made of grey polyester resin. The forward view ports are made of clear resin. The overall shape is right on the money. You can also see that the mountains are hollow too. Everything fits together like a glove and it is far more accurate than the Monogram Flying Sub. These shots should give you and idea of the fidelity of shape of the little model to the original when it is finally assembled.
These photos show a complete and lighted model as built by Dennis DeBoer. It is made specifically for the 57 inch Seaview and can be rigged for lighting. This kit comes with a nice seafloor base.
