Joel Tavera’s Deboer Seaview

This is the DeBoer Hulls 57 inch Seaview model. This rendition is of the 18 foot studio miniature. It is made of epoxy resin with fiber glass mesh added for strenght and integrity of the shape. It is primarily designed for RC submersibility, but this was built for a customer as a static display.

I only had a few gaps to fill in the area around where the engine exhaust tubes meet the main body, but it wasn’t that bad. This thing looked so good that I have to get one myself. When I first opened the crate it came in I thought that it was white vacuformed plastic, it is the epoxy resin color, and the hull is kinda thin but as I said it is strong. It has a lot potential and is easy to put together. It was the size that really was cumbersome to negotiate around and paint. All in all a superb model kit

Dennis DeBoer is planning on coming out with a 4 inch Flying Sub model companion piece for this exquisite kit. DeBoer also has a 80 inch Seaview, with a scale diving bell you can order separately (it is cool and very accurate). That one is made of Polyester resin with fiber glass cloth and the design is slightly different (due to the TV version it is rendered after).
