iHobbyExpo 2010 part 4
I returned home from Chicago on Saturday and am busy playing catchup. I still have a bunch more material to share with you, so here goes…
MRC will be distributing this H-II Transfer Vehicle from Aoshima. It is a 1:72 scale concept craft.
Here’s a look at the Batman display from Round 2. The artwork is by Alex Ross. The 1:25 glue kit is on the left, the snap box in the center, and the deluxe kit on the right. The snap kit should be out in spring, followed by the glue kit in summer and the deluxe kit in late 2011. Also coming from Round 2/AutoWorld is a cool looking slot car set.
Round 2 will also revisit Captain Action in late 2011. It’s been widely reported that Round 2 has a Marvel license and will be doing related costumes. The figure and costume design is more contemporary then the originals and will be issued under the Forever Fun brand.
Here are a few other snaps of models on display at the Round 2 booth. Virtually everything show was a reissue. The only new tooling on display was the 1:25 scale Batmobile. That pattern has previously been displayed at Wonderfest.
Of course, the big question everyone has for Round 2 is whether they will produce the 1:350 Classic Enterprise. I had discussions with several of the people at Round 2, including Tom Lowe, the president. As of right now, that kit is not scheduled. The company has concerns over the cost of tooling the project and I was told that directly by Mr. Lowe. He wants to produce that kit and hopes that they can do it in the future. In my conversation with him and everyone else at the booth, I emphasized that the product would be popular and discussed my sales potential for the kit. I also focused in on the fact that new product outsells reissues by a considerable margin.
Keep your fingers crossed.
