Gino Dykstra’s Buck Rogers’ Marauder

Here’s another set of pics — something a bit different — a Buck Roger’s Marauder. As you know, this is from the short-lived TV series, and the Monogram model itself, like the Starfighter, is in 1/32nd scale, or close enough to not matter much.

I managed to get some good photos of the original models, and found a lot missing on the kit which just had to be added. First and foremost, I added landing gear. There are four pads, the rear ones being little more than flat plates that retract. The front two, however, are more complicated and required some fiddly cutting to extract the portions from the bottom of the fuselage. I think the photo shows what I did pretty clearly.

Everything else is essentially detail. I opened the vent above the cockpit, detailed the front vents on the “wings”, added detail on the nose, redid the laser cannons and added the angled fins to the engine pods — one of the fussier parts of the redo. I wanted to open the cockpit, but repeated viewings of the Buck Rogers movie failed to show exactly what portion of the front actually opens, so I had to leave that, alas.
