Geoffrey Geary’s Beatles
I wanted to share with you all my Revell Beatles. First of all, I had been looking for this kit for about 3-1/2 years. Through the all-knowing all-seeing internet, I was able to track down “The Boys” to a dealer in Cornwall, Endland.
The kit was fully assembled, and had an original poorly glopped on enamel paint job. I stripped off the old paint using oven cleaner and found the beautiful original styrene that lay beneath.
I built up the mold seams using contour puddy, and sanded them down nice and smooth. I painted the boys using acrylic paints, and used the dry brush technique to build up shading in the suits. Ringo’s drumkit is not original- (He originally only came with the snare drum). I found the drum kit from a KISS ,Todd McFarlane figure and it works beautifully…I changed the bass drum head to read The Beatles.
This picture represents The Beatles kits approximately 90% complete. (Paul’s Hoffner Violin Bass, his left hand, and John’s right hand hadn’t been painted.)
Other additions not yet completed at the time
I added three excellent amps, also taken from KISS figures, and stenciled VOX on them as to represent the original tiny vox amps The Beatles used while they were touring, 1964-65
I scratch built real leather guitar straps for the all three.
The kit came with John’s acoustic guitar, and I could never understand why they didn’t supply him with his beloved Rickenbacker 325….so I took yet again, one of the KISS Gibson Les Paul’s, cut it into shape using my Dremel, and voila! scratch built a Ricky 325 which leans against the amp.
