Dennis Hogan’s Star Wars Figures

These are a few of my 1/4 scale Screamin’ Star Wars vinyl figure model kits that I have built up over the last couple of years.  They all stand about eighteen inches tall and are pretty detailed.

Darth was the biggest challenge…he is back heavy due to the heavy “rubber like” cape. Not great for a free-standing figure, but you can compensate and correct the balance by only putting plaster (weight) up to about the knees in this figures lower half.

Although the Darth kit is made from a nice black vinyl, I actually primed it in a gray acrylic primer and then used three shades of black for the helmet and uniform. I finalized the figure paint job by dry brushing dark gray over the cloth portions of his uniform and then detailed the buttons on his chest plate. The only thing I point out here is that I used clear red over a base of silver to make some buttons pop out. Just like the movie version.

Apparently, Luke and Darth were designed to duke it out with their light sabers. Now, Luke’s light saber was a little difficult, only because I could not find fluorescent green paint. So, I primed a wooden dowel. Painted it gloss white and later wiped a small amount of clear green over it. I think it looks luminescent enough.

The Stormtrooper was built with a wood dowel through his neck. So, now the helmet will turn. Just thought it would be cool.
