Dennis Hogan’s Spawn

Here you have my latest figure model kit. Inteleg International, Inc.’s Spawn. I believe this was the only licensed Spawn model ever made based on the Comic Book Character. Apparently, it was designed after artwork drawn by McFarlane himself. Now, I must say, I have been working on figure models for a long time now, but this one was difficult for me. The Cape and chains presenting the most concern.

According to the instruction sheet, I trimmed the cape as it should be. However, it just did not want to glue into place. It also attaches to the base cape and this did not want to fit properly either. Long story short, I cut some additional vinyl pieces in order to make it look like one full flowing cape.

Next, the chains had to “float” in the air as if suspended by magic powers (read the comic). I finally wrapped the plastic chain around a glass and taped it securely. I then brushed on super glue. As you can see, it held its form.

Finally, I added a wood base so I could secure the vinyl base and figure in order to make it a stable display. I was able to drill a small hole in the base for a metal spike, which is actually anchored into the lower wood base. The protruding spike was then placed in a small drill hole in his right foot. Now it all sits secure. I also added some decals to the wood just to accent the piece.
