Chuck Edwards’ Haunted Lighthouse

Here is the ‘Haunted Lighthouse’, from the Lost in Space episode of the same name. I tried to imagine what the studio would have come up with if they hadn’t used stock footage, keeping in mind what their basic rule must have been… Keep it simple and paint it sliver! The lighthouse part of a space lighthouse/ weather station was pretty straight forward. It just faces down instead of up (in space there is no up & down!) There were some parts borrowed from other kits but most of the structure was made from PVC, with some Evergreen plastic and poster board.

Do the radars look familiar? They are from the Millennium Falcon (one from my original 70’s kit and one from a recent re-issue) and the rocket engines are from an old Saturn V model. Thank goodness for the old parts box! And don’t forget the gumball machine bubble on top, I was determined to find a use for one of those things somewhere.

It’s built to match the 12″ JII so it’s 1:48 or 1:60 scale, depending on your point of view. The whole thing’s a little under 4′ long.
