Cesar Alfaro’s AT-AT
For all those who liked the look of my AT-ST, here’s my paper-scratched AT-AT
This model is 4 inches tall (10.2 cm) and 5 inches long (13 cm), and totally scratch built out of paper.
Just as with the ST, my basic reference were some blueprints available on the Star Wars Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels, some screenshots and downloaded pictures.
It’s built entirely from Iris Paper, distributed by a local store in Costa Rica, where I live.
I used three different shades of gray of the same paper.
For different the legs, I glued several layers of the same material with Henkel’s Pritt White Glue. Weathering was achieved with pastel chalks, Testors enamels, and some direct hits on the hull with matches.
The base is a round wooden isolator (the ones in the kitchen) with a snowy terrain simulated with a flour and white glue mix, painted on flat white. Some blasts were also done on the snow…and you can also see an scaled (3/4 inches) Snowspeeder under the AT’s front foot…just loved that scene from TESB!!! A happy accident occurred thanks to temperature differentials, and the “ice” around the speeder cracked, just like
after an impact…
I would appreciate your insights, comments and advise on this technique
