Carl Campagna’s Fireball XL-5

This is a profile view of Steve Zodiac’s space craft Fireball XL-5. This kit is a reproduction from Comet Miniatures of the old Kitmaster release. From what I understand the original kit was only available through a cereal promotion. The reproduction kit is molded from resin with white metal accents. The looks are very deceiving the model is very heavy due to the fact that the only resin used in this kit was for the main fuselage. Every thing else, wing surfaces, rocket engines, Fireball Junior’s fuselage and stabilizing fins are all white metal. The kit itself was pretty easy to assemble, however there were several imperfections on the resin that needed to be corrected. The white metal parts were cast very well, there was not much flash at all on them. If you are a Gerry Anderson fan this is a must for your collection
