Everything I can tell you about the 1:350 Classic Enterprise from Round 2

At Wonderfest last weekend, Round 2 confirmed they would be producing a classic USS Enterprise in 1:350 scale.   The kit will be available in two editions.  The first will be a “premiere” edition with extra parts to build the pilot version of the ship (and a t-shirt).   This will be followed by a “standard version” which will come out sometime after the premiere version.   There will also be some sort of accessory kit with lights, photo etch and motors for the nacelles.

Here’s the down side.   The “premiere” version of the kit will be sold only through Round 2 at the full retail price of $150.   (They are throwing in a T-shirt too).  Round 2 has cut the hobby retailers and distributors out of the deal and hobby shops will not be able to sell this version of the kit.   I regret to say that CultTVman willl not be able to offer the “premiere” edition to our valued customers.   We will unfortunately be canceling all the preorders for this version of the model.

While we will not be able to offer the kit when it first comes out, I am happy to say that CultTVman will be offering the “standard” version of the kit.   Once I have pricing details from my distributors, I will start taking preorders for this kit.   I can tell you the price will be a lot lower than the premiere version offered by Round 2.

Round 2 says the kit could come out anytime between March and October 2012.   That’s means its at least a year away, and if there is one thing I have learned, schedule dates are estimates at best.

I’m sure that everyone has a lot of questions, but details about the model are still pretty sketchy.   They have said the standard kit will include a shuttle bay.    The pilot parts may be offered separately at a later date.    Beyond that, I don’t have any other information.

We’ll all have to wait a bit longer.
