Bandai Star Wars News
Bandai has announced several new kits for later in 2018. It is unknown when some of these will be available in the US. Distribution for the new kits is spotty. For instance, the X-Wing/Y-Wing set was out in the US before it was out in Japan and widely available. The Luke and Han Stormtrooper figures are out in Japan, but not in the US. It is difficult to know what is going to be here, when it will be here, and how much of it will be available for distribution.
The most exciting news from Bandai is an all new kit of the Rebel Blockade Runner. This will be a mini-kit at 1:1000 scale, which makes it about 5 inches long. The test shots were on display at Wonderfest in Japan this week. The kit will be sold separately in Japan, and as a two pack with the 1:350 Millennium Falcon. The two pack kit will be distributed in the US later in the year and we are taking preorders in the CultTVman Shop
For San Diego Comic Con, Bandai produced a limited edition B-Wing kit.
This special release will be available before the standard kit, although it is not known how many will actually be distributed. This version of the kit features different paint details, different kit details, a different pilot, and LED lighting. It is supposed be out this summer and we have it on preorder in the CultTVman shop
Rocket Booster R2-D2 will be a 1:12 kit, the first in a line of kits called “The Droid Collection.” It will come with lots of accessories including rocket boosters, hydraulic head lifting device, electronic bar, oil application arm, light saber, tool stand and display base. US pricing is not yet available.
And the second kit in the Droid Collection will be R4-I9.
This droid will come with additional accessories to go with the R2-D2 kit. US pricing has not been announced.
