Alex Ng’s Predator

Painting began with the application of a flat, flesh color, base coat.  Instead of airbrushing, I tried using a water-color method for applying the darker skin color.  The darker color was diluted with water (acrylic paint) until the paint was translucent.  It was applied in layers until the desired tone/opacity was achieved.  Each layer was allowed to set but not thoroughly dry.  The armor was painted with a gun metal color and then washed with a dark gray.

The body netting and fine hairs were applied using a 0.3 mm drafting pen. I don’t know why but the result was a calm, beckoning look instead of the usual fierce Predator.
