The Phantom

One more "Lost Aurora" model from the 1970's.  Aurora was hoping to expand thier Comic Scenes line of kits.   They tried to license the Revell molds for Flash Gordon and The Phantom but when they were unsuccessful, they began to develop their own model kits.

Dave Cockrum produced some artwork for this figure in 1974 and many others.   However, the Comics Scenes were discontinued and the figure never was put into production.   This prototype was unknown until it appeared with several others on Ebay in August 2001. These prototypes seen on this page come from the collection of Jim Makowski.  Jim obtainted them from a toy designer who was part of Aurora at the time of the shut down.

These images appear with the kind permission of Jim Makowski.
