Ricardo Salamé Páez' Fireball SG

The Fighting Suit Space Type Fireball SG its a variation of the original, SAFS Fireball.  With more long range supplies consumables, more flight autonomy and a best laser cannon PWM41/sd.  This type of SAFS has its main power in the space type engines and his legs, for the terrestrial mobility and combat. The thickness of the armor suit was increase to include new oxygen equipment. New guidance and electronic instrument and the new power supply of the laser canon. Oslo the thickness was increase to give it more survivability capabilities when the armor receives direct impacts . The  SG is ideal for the 0 G combat  environment.

The Model:

The kit is Nitto # 7 de S.A.F.S. Fireball  from 1984. Its scale is 1/20. It has a copy of the conversion of the SG Fireball kit of Model ModelKasten.  The packaging is excellent, well done and with an excellent illustration of the SG variants. This packing became and other must have for the collector.

The models basic is easy for the beginner the only complication is the resin conversion but this is ideal for the modeler whom what to get introduce to this area. The instruction the you with pieces of the original Fireball you need to complete the SG version. The resin parts are from ModelKlaster.

You need to sand carefully the union part  of the main body of the SG, it has a little imperfections an d the mod mark. I Choose to made the model with close cockpit, and made omission of the parts that will help me in a future projects.

To improve the union of the arms and legs and cover the mechanical unions I epoxy putty  and then mold the unions similar to the Kow drawing. Other of the variations, was no to use  the copper wire the provide the kit, to make power connections of legs and arm. I substituted them for welding wire, that is more flexible and more easy to handle. This option makes more realistic and natural the fall of the  power legs connections and the laser cannon connection.

When I have al the pieces with the proper filler and well sanded, I star the painting job panting it component with light gay. I paint legs, arms and hips armor plates separately. The camouflage pattern that I deiced to chose was the same of the Kow illustration use in the ModelKlasten poster. But I deiced to apply  a little of more color and I chose to paint the main hatch, one armor shoulder plate and the rear cover armor plate  in orange read. I left dry the paint overnight  and then I apply Tamiya clear. I left dry this clear for 3 days, then apply the decals and after a cupola  of days apply the flat base.

Because the Fireball SG was and small spacecraft with atmospheric reentry capabilities I proceed to give it a weathering similar of a vehicle that has gone to the space and back a few times. I chose pastel to do this work with a little of dry brush.

This was my first MAK but I have a pile in my closet. This is one of the coolest pieces of  Si Fie
