  1. I built this one for my son who moved from our location near Cocoa Beach, FL to Austin,TX almost four years ago. He had surfed when he lived here during high school. I had a couple of these when I was growing up, although not this one, and thought it would be fun to build one again. It is definitely a product of the early 60s though as the fit was quite bad by present day standards and required a fair amount of puttying and sanding to clean up the joints. Painting was fun and was about half airbrushing and half hand painting. There are five or six of these Silly Surfer kits and I am thinking of picking them all up to build someday. They do bring back fun memories of being a kid.
