This is an update on something I sent to you a while ago – currently posted in the ‘On The Bench‘ section.
This is a scratch-built Scorpio from the 4th series of Blake’s 7, built entirely from plasticard and brass tubing, measuring 16 inches in length. Endless raised panelling and pipework was added to the model to break up the surfaces and catch the light, adding a sense of scale. The model was primed with Halfords plastic primer and then finally airbrushed (using a very cheap single action Badger airbrush – recommended!), then drybrushed with thinned down matt black enamel. I may build some legs to display the model properly at some point. Provided you have the blueprints and some patience, it’s not a difficult model to build as there are no complex techniques required.

That looks really cool. I’ve only just found thid page, for years I’ve longeed to have a Scorpio display. May I ask where you got the blueprints to build this? I really need to build one now! Thanks,
Stu
Richard,
That model is absolutely spot-on! I scratch my head and wonder why no manufacturer has ever made a regular kit of it. Just a beauty to behold! Your painting skills are tremendous as well. All around a great scratch-build.
Cheers!
