230a: Bryon Ray’s Galactica scratchbuild

I like building models from scratch. But I am Finding out that it seams to be a dying art. I have tried my hand using different materials, then read some of your submissions were using foam core. What a GREAT product. Back in the 60’s and 70’s I learned to scratch build from my father. We did not have a lot of money and the man could build anything out of cardboard and you could not tell it was cardboard. Foamcore would be like giving the man a vacuform machine. I digress.

I started a generic Battlestar, with the new series it seems as though they can be what you want as long as you follow the basic design. She is built over a pvc deck rail keel sheeted with foamcore hard board for the landing bay base and Bondo to fill the seems. Plumbers foam was then injected for strength.
