Jim James' White Star
White Star #1

Modeling notes:
This is a resin and white metal kit from an unknown and unnamed company (can't think  why). It actually went together quite well and required minimal filling and trimming (for a resin kit!). The only modification I made was to add an extra scratchbuilt (from the parts box) center cannon since this was not included in the kit.

Painting:
This is a best guess paint scheme. I painted the ship overall mid gray and 'painted' a squiggle pattern overall with a black felt tip pen. I then dusted the whole model with another coat of spray mid-gray so that the squggles still show through. Sorry about getting technical here.

The purple based panels (top of lower wing roots and weapons nacelles were brushed with purple using an eye shadow applicator (check your local drug store). By brushing this on lightly, you can create an opaque layer than still shows the squiggles. I then use the eye shadow applicator to paint in the purple patches - using the applicator to diffuse the edges of each patch. These could have been airbrushed but because painting, in this case, is best done after assembly, there are some areas that are hard to reach with an air brush.

I put a thin strip of cream colored decal on the leading edge of the wings and weapons nacelles and lastly the entire model was sprayed with Dull Cote.

White Star #2

Display:
The model is mounted on a brass tube on a wooden base painted black. The tag was  created on a computer using images and fonts downloaded from the web.
