it's been a long time since I posted anything (which doesn't mean I haven't been busy) so I thought I'd toss in something a bit different. This is the MRC 1/9th  scale figure of Ra, the Sun God, from the movie Stargate. Although this model isn't as nice as the resin model out there, it's got the twin advantages of lower cost and availability.

The hard part in doing this kit was finding anything resembling accurate color information. The box art itself appears to be completely off the mark, and the few pictures I could find on the internet didn't seem to agree with each other. I did the best I could with what I could find. No doubt there'll be plenty of folks out there to argue with me on this.

There are virtually no modifications per se on the kit, although the imprinted embroidery patterns on the model looked far too simplistic to me, so I did what I could to make them busier and more elaborate. The base, representing the stargate itself, is very nicely detailed, so I just put a little sand on it to represent a desert environment.

What fun!
