This is the Alien Strider figure from Halcyon, built out-of-the-box with some interesting painting techniques.
In the case of the critter's bod, I airbrushed it with a medium muddy brown, then lightly drybrushed it with several layers of lighter and lighter mustard-white mixes, to create the depth I was looking for. The head crest was a different matter, and that was airbrushed in this manner AFTER the drybrushing of the rest of the creature. To create the medium-eggshell look, I then painted on a layer of Future Floor Wax. Creates a kind of a nice contrast to the dullness of the base, I think.
