This robot arrived at my house the week of the terrorist attacks, Tuesday September 11, 2001. It is dedicated to the victims,
families, and friends of the Word Trade Center, Pentagon, and hi-jackings. I've named him, the "ANTI-TERRORIST Cy-bot". He is extremely rare as I have number 64 of 200.
After so
much destruction, I needed to build. The Thursday night after the terrorist attacks was spent cutting, re-shaping, and sanding the various pieces. This includes drilling out the gun's trigger and barrel
opening. Painting and assembly was started and finished Friday. This model used a total of 21 paints akin to a 21 gun salute.
12 are used for the robot, and several were custom mixed for various wood grains. My best work yet as far as base detail goes. It seems I was finally inspired to try a simple paint and washing technique for realism. It is EXTREMELY rare that I mix any paint, and am proud of the fairly realistic wood grain.
Even before my dubious dubbing of this robot as the "ANTI-TERRORIST Cy-bot" I did NOT intend to paint him his original sterile white. He was much too cool for that. I had originally set
out to paint his torso ALL "Robby black" with the rest as you now see him.
I started painting the head and worked down section by section. It was soon obvious that a two-tone body must be done.
His black top is symbolic of the dreaded "executioners hood". His
green eye makes him the envy of destruction. While his triangular pupil shows he is in "Force Protection Delta". (Formerly Threat Con.) Naturally, his left head lights of red, white & blue
indicates he is American made and on our side. His battle scars are seen on his hulking chrome shoulders. While fierce red hooks (Inspired by the Lost in Space B-9 Robot) extend from the tips of silvery
arms.
I like to think of this scene as where "Cy-bot" has just knocked down the door of terrorists. They have dropped their guns and fled. He is unstoppable, and will not rest until they
are finished, and we are the victors. His mission: To serve and protect "Target Earth".
